Finally I’ve finished the final work at university. My portfolio was made in video, with lot’s of interviews with the target audience and process or contruction of the pieces.
The video is still in portuguese but soon I will traduce, thanks and Shalom al Israel!
Shaatnez is proibition from the Tora of using a vest that contains wool and flax.
Only the Cohen Gadol could use when he was at the Beit Hamicdash at Jerusalem.
This a decree that is over our understanding. Although there is a interpretation that somehow explains;
- Caim and Abel took their offer to G-d. Caim was agriculturist and took plants that result on flax and Abel was shepheard that took his sheep that result in wool.
According to Cabala these two sons of Adam represented spiritual opposit powers that must be always separated as the offers (can’t be blended).
Once upon a time the Truth was visiting some men, without his clothes and adornment, so naked like his own name. Everybody that saw her used to run away with shame or afraid, so nobody gived her “welcome”. Thus the Truth passed through the world rejected and scorned.
One afternoon, very, very sad, Truth met with Parable that was happly walking around in a beautiful garb. - Truth why are you so disheartened? - asked the Parable. - Because probably, I am very ugly that men avoid me so much! - What a nonsense! - laughed Parable - it’s not because of that they avoid you. Take this cloth and see what happens.
So the Truth dressed the beautiful vests and suddenly all the places where she passed through she was welcomed.
It means that men don’t like to look straight at the Truth, they rather her to sail under false colours.
[searching for the font of the story]
People are used to fashion. The clothes used - or the one not used - expose oneself in a way that he: sails hiself under false colours. That happens because our body and clothes shine and atract to a different perspecitve that’s not really the one that is inside each one of us - our real us.
Also that, everbody dresses like been naked and consequently - as the parable - poeple don’t reach to know each other and when they do, they don’t reach to live together. We can see lot’s of this happening in matrimonies.
When we dress modestly we find ourselves, we can get a self-knowledge.
Why can’t just be naked like truth? Because gloves are needed for healthy relationships, remember Dvora’s story? We have to get modestly behavior, modest words, modest attitudes, modest affinity, modest ways of telling the truth.
What is Tzniut? It’s a beautiful vision about the truth - our own truth.
