Spirituality of clothes
September 8th, 2008 — Tzniut
Feel like using much of the clothes that are on the store windows and magazines, doesn’t? That pattern, that color, the fabric, the shape, everything (!) and independently what calls our attention, it seems irreplaceable and privy vitally.
-”Oh, it’s not really like that. Or… hmmm it is?”
It’s normal to come across with this doubt, and it happens in a very simple way;
It’s the body that supports the chosen clothes and this concept holds four meanings for the body:
1. It’s a physical support for the clothes,
2. It’s a material communication that realizes our thoughts (gesticulations and attitudes, for example).
3. Physical component that connects us with all the res of the material (touch).
4. The body introduces a discourse that is formed by: the clothes + gesticulation + physical = interaction with social relationships.
It means that the vesture is a language and communicates to the exterior.
So unconsciously the colors, the patterns, fabrics, etc, exert influence over us and we accept the image that will be transmitted when the clothes will be used. This “unconscious” usually changes six by six months, and calls fashion or trends. It’s cool to transmit an idea, but witch is this idea? :)
Be what is dressed, or dress from what we are?
Come across about the necessity of having vesture is the moment that we think witch is the image we want to be passed. And then it’s possible to see ourselves on infinite ways, add to that, a style can be seen different ways from other people!!
Now, if our outward appearance becomes equal to our inward appearance?
Not good, because every one knows that is more than a body (where the beauty goes away with time) right? And the real truth is that we want to communicate who we are internally!
Look inside, and ask yourself if that’s the identity you want. Why should I want the colorful identity or the pattern one? Short, long, soft or rigid?
Everything that’s seen can clothe us?
This reflection is Tzniut. It’s looking inside yourself and see the possibility to exist a complete and intense way. Tzniut is a way to be presented that appears from the way we see ourselves!
So we feel that the body can’t communicate who we are, because it shines (!) and obscures the interiority vision of everybody that interacts with us.
So we understand that not show ourselves is a solution!
